The Taper Bore Sprocket material should ensure that the sprocket has sufficient contact strength and wear resistance, so the tooth surface is mostly heat-treated. For low-speed, light-load and smooth transmission, medium carbon steel is used; for medium-speed and medium-load, medium carbon steel is used for quenching treatment, and its hardness is greater than HRC40~45; for high-speed, heavy-duty, and continuous operation, low-carbon steel surface is used Carburizing and quenching (such as 15, 20Cr, 12CrNi3 and other steels are quenched to HRC55~60). Or use medium carbon steel for surface quenching (such as 45, 400Cr, 50Mn2, 35CrMnSi, 45CrNi and other steels are quenched to HRC45 ~ 55).
Cast iron can also be used for Taper Bore Sprocket that is not important or mainly transmits motion.
Since the working conditions of the small Taper Bore Sprocket are relatively bad, the material should be better than the large Taper Bore Sprocket.
